Spring Fever
Hi all,
Wow, do I have spring fever! I can almost feel it in the air and since I am still in Az, and it's actually raining, I can't wait to get back home and start my garden. The problem is, it's going to be snowing there for the next three days. SOOOOOOOO, I guess it may still be a while before I see any seedlings popping their heads out of the ground. I can dream though, sigh.
I am heading home to Colorado the first week in March and leaving this lovely weather behind. It has been a great winter with warm temps and beautiful blue skies.
I hope you are all ready for the planting season. Go back through some of my previous posts for some great info to help you out this season. Let me know what you think and how they are working for you.

Organic Gardening
I like to buy organic vegetables and fruits, but when I go to the store and look at the prices I cringe. Hear what I am saying? I thought so. Do you know how much better they are for you?
Have you tried to grow your own? It doesn't take much time and you can tailor your garden to the space you have, even if you only have a balcony or patio. Have you thought about container planting for your veggies if you have limited space. Some of you have an area in your garden that would be perfect, just look at it. Others have huge areas that may even require getting that tractor out. What ever your size think ORGANIC. Chemical free, vitamin rich, fresh natural foods. Organic grown foods are found to be much higher in antioxidants (up to 40%). We know that antioxidants help reduce stress and in these days and times, who doesn't have some stress in their lives. Plus the added benefit of being outdoors and the satisfaction of watching your plants grow. You also get to show them off to your friends and family, but the best of all is the harvest. Grape Growing System

Exotic Sheep
I have updated my facebook with some really interesting links to exotic sheep that I have. The Texas Dahls and Royal Whites all are hair sheep. The Royal Whites are the first new breed of sheep in the U.S. in 20 years. They are a cross between St. Croix and White Dorpers, both have hair instead of wool. They are pure white in color. Glendale Xeriscape Garden
WOW, It's amazing what you can find if you really look at the phone book. As you know I am in Peoria, Az. for the winter. The town next door is Glendale. They have a Xeriscape Botanical Garden, how cool is that. I am going to go see it after the new year celebrations. I'll post some photos for you to see. Let's all make an effort to conserve water starting today. The best place to do that is in your own garden and landscaping. Here is a link in case you would like to check it out. Go Organic
Happy New Year to all.
I am really looking forward to spring and getting back into the garden.
I am still in the Phoenix area and it is starting to warm up, finally. We have had 3 nights with freezing temps. Wow, I came here to escape the cold. As far as home in Cortez, I hear there is more than a foot of snow on the ground, so I can't complain. Way below freezing temps. My chickens are not happy campers, although they have a great barn they are staying in with some beautiful horses. There is a beautiful rooster named Sgt. Pepper they are keeping company with. His hen Miss Chicklet is not happy at all. Makes me wonder, how happy they will be to come back home and leave him behind.
Speaking of cold and gardens, This may not be the time in your area for composting, but it's a good time to start thinking and learning about it. Check out this link below and start thinking spring planting and happy, healthy plants. Use what you have and save some money. Go organic this year.
